NDIS community participation in Brisbane

Being part of the community shouldn't depend on having someone to go with. EDS supports young people to get out, try things and build real connections around Brisbane.

What this looks like

  • Gym sessions, sport and fitness
  • Bowling, movies, aquariums and day trips
  • Shopping, cafes and everyday outings
  • Finding local clubs, groups and activities worth joining
  • Getting to appointments and events with someone in your corner

“Activities such as gym, DnD, VR, Bowling, Escape Rooms and many more.”

Reilly F., EDS client

How we do it

We start with interests. If someone loves music, we find the music. If it's the gym, we train. Participation works best when it's something the person actually wants to do.

Our support workers are there to back the young person up, not to steer. The aim is more confidence and more connections over time.

Funding

Community participation is typically funded through Core Supports (social and community participation), and sometimes Capacity Building. We'll help you check your plan.

Questions

Can we choose the activities?

Absolutely. It's your support. We'll make suggestions, but the choices are yours.

Is it one on one or in a group?

Both are possible. Some people prefer one on one, others like a group. We can mix it up.

What if I'm nervous about getting out?

That's common. We take it slowly, start with places you're comfortable with, and build from there.

Let's talk.

Tell us about your young person and what they're into. We'll take it from there.
